From the genus Smilax, sarsaparilla grows in deep rainforests found in the warm climates of the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America, and the West Indies. It is packed with IRON, one of the most important herbs for the body!
Mexican sarsaparilla is the root of the Smilax aristolochiaefolia plant. It is used to treat a variety of ailments. The plant’s medicinal properties stem from its active chemical compounds, which include saponins and phytosterols.
It is commonly used to add a unique flavor to beverages, desserts, and other dishes. It is also used as a natural sweetener and to add a hint of spice to dishes. This herb is NOT to be confused with Sassafras (Indian sarsaparilla), a completely different herb with different uses.
PREPARATION:
Boil two cups of water and add 2 tablespoons of Sarsaparilla.
Simmer for about 20-60 minutes on mid heat and allow to cool down (the longer the more potent)
strain and drink up to twice twice per day.
